CODE UPDATE

HOCKEY
The hockey season has been underway for a while having started this year mid – March. Our club this year has continued to field 4 womens and 4 mens teams across all Waikaro grades.

Our Ecolab Premier mens and womens teams have finished their brief local derby round and are now well into the Midlands Intercity competion involving the top teams from Counties, Waikato, Tauranga, and Bay of Plenty. Our men have had a solid performance so far and are almost certain to make the championship top 8 round with a game in hand, whilst our women are sitting 5th on the womens table at present but need to make top 6 with a few teams still left to meet in their grading round.

Our 6 various mens and womens Reserve grade teams continue in their respective double local rounds in the Waikato Hockey competition with our Reserve 1 womens Blue team (traditionally a finalist every year) performing strongly. Our Reserve 2 womens Changing Faces and Green teams are also sitting currently in the top 3 of their grade. Our Reserve 1 Onestaff Makos mens team is finding this season a struggle but escaping relegation so far, whist our Reserve 2 OPS Stockfeeds Men and Reserve 3 Absolute Storage Men are holding mid-grade.

The season finishes early September so there is still plenty of hockey ahead and chances for teams to challenge for the top spots in both the Midlands Intercity and Waikato Championship competitions.

INDOOR MODULES: Term 1 update

Mondays netball final ended our Summer 2018 Sports modules at the Albert Park Indoor Centre. A fantastic 9 weeks saw some fantastic play in multiple sports and heaps of fun along the way. Thank you to everyone who participated and well done to the winners who will make it into our Wall of Champions.

Monday Night Netball League. Winners- Misfits. 48-34 over Balls Up.
Wednesday Night Netball League. Winners- Misfits. 32-39 over Kihikihi.
Misfits continued their good form, winning both our Monday and Wednesday evening Netball Modules. They have been participating in our Netball modules since the indoor centre first opened two and a half years ago and have established themselves as a force on the Indoor Netball scene.

Thursday Night Cricket League. Winners- Hack & Slash. 88-18 over Off The Leash.
Defending champions Hack & Slash managed to retain their shield by winning the final on Thursday in a closely contested game which is not reflected by the score. Paul Wheeler and Dene Franklin set the tone early with the best innings of 39.

The Albert Park Indoor Centre is an indoor venue so as the weather turns it’s a great place to play sport, get fit and keep dry! If you are interested in participating in any of our modules (Indoor Netball or Indoor Cricket) visit the Albert Park Indoor Centre website (www.albertparkindoor.co.nz) or contact Marie on 0274 519 158 or programs@tasports.co.nz.
