SEMI FINAL: Te Awamutu Sports Hockey update

Our Ecolab Te Awamutu Premier Mens hockey team closed out their season in the weekend with the semi-finals of the Midlands Intercity competition being held in Hamilton.

Te Awamutu met rivals Hamilton Old Boys in the semi which was a rematch of last year’s Intercity Final where Old Boys emerged the victors. It was to prove a repeat outcome this year although a narrower scoreline in this encounter with a high octane match seeing Old Boys secure a finals berth with a 2:0 victory.

They move on to defend their Intercity title next weekend against Suburbs who beat Fraser Tech in the other semi in a thriller of a match that went to golden goal drop offs in extra time.

Te Awamutu’s Premier Women struggled this year at the bottom of the Midlands Intercity Premier Womens table as they endeavour to rebuild with a young side.

Pic 2However the club’s Premier Reserve womens Blue team have easily booked themselves a spot in the Waikato Club Championship finals next weekend to defend their title yet again.
Te Awamutu Sports could potentially also be represented across several grade finals next weekend with TAS teams from the womens 3rd grade, Mens Reserve, and Mens 3rd grade also playing in semis this weekend.
