Ohaupo Premiers entered today’s Premier Reserve semi-final vs TAS Ecolab with lots of confidence. They had just upset the Championship Round leaders Tumeke Netball Team a week earlier and only just lost to TAS Ecolab 3 weeks ago by 4 goals.
But unfortunately for Ohaupo, TAS Ecolab came out blazing from all areas of the court and showed once again in consecutive weeks what their team is truly capable off, winning 48-23.
TAS Ecolab’s preparation earlier in the week at training was great, where they continued to work on their combinations and defensive areas to create more turnovers through court.
This was clearly evident through their full court pressure, which caused many problems and frustrations for Ohaupo bringing the ball through the court or into their shooting circle. Captain Brittany van den Einden and Joanne Denton were relentless in the defensive circle not allowing the Ohaupo Shooters much room at all to get free.
Mid courter Kate Bryant who also plays with her identical twin Sarah Bryant had an outstanding game at WD with multiple tips and clean intercepts to contribute to her team’s performance. Attacking Mid Courters Sarah Bryant and Jazz Sutherland had their best game of the season as a combination, working hard throughout the court on Defense and also being very patient feeding the ball into their shooters. The TAS Ecolab Shooters of Janene Parlane and Kayla To’angutu were in good form, shooting from all areas and working well together as a combination.
The support from their other team members, Elayna Crawford, Katelin Crawford and Mya Sunnex were in full voice from the side, with lots of encouragement to their team mates working hard on court. This is how the quarters played out throughout the game to TAS Ecolab. 10/5, 18/13, 28/20, 48/23.
This Saturday 20th August 2016, TAS Ecolab will meet Tumeke @ 10:40am for the Premier Reserve Title for 2016. This will be a game not to be missed as the Head to Head battle for 2016 between the two teams is 1 Win & 1 Loss Record.
In other results, TAS Crowe Horwath were upset by TAS Red Red Red in the A Grade Semi-Finals and will play Ray White Pirongia Old Girls for 3rd and 4th @ 12:40pm.
