| Te Awamutu Sports Hockey Club cruised in as Waikato Club of the year after winning 12 trophies at the Waikato Hockey Association prizegiving.In a great show of strength, all 5 Te Awamutu Sports teams played in the semi-finals of the WHA championship.Three went through to the finals with two winning - the premier ladies beat Southern United 2-1, while Bradley's Bunch beat Varsity B 2-1 ina closely fought reserve grade final. Te Awamutu hockey has enjoyed a golden era since the introduction (several years ago) of the astro turf at Waikato Hockey Association's headquaters at Innes Common. This year they increased the numbers from four to five teams - four ladies and one men's team. |
